Foundation Rural Energy Services (FRES) is dedicated to promoting and scaling rural electrification in Africa through its network of local companies in Uganda, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea-Bissau, all built on a proven energy-as-a-service model. With over 25 years of experience, FRES has delivered sustainable electricity to rural areas, serving nearly 20,000 customers—households, businesses, and public institutions—benefiting more than 2 million people with a variety of solar solutions. Our offerings range from solar home systems and mini grids to solar water pumping systems, enabling us to address diverse energy needs within rural communities. By providing energy to households, businesses, schools, clinics, and agricultural cooperatives, FRES is committed to leaving no one behind. Our mission focuses on offering reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy access, complemented by post-installation maintenance services and capacity-building initiatives that foster a healthy rural ecosystem. Building on our successes, we are gearing up to scale our activities and accelerate energy access across the region.
