High-level Panel: Understanding progress of developing local content in Uganda’s power subsector

Location:Speke Ballroom (1st floor)Track:Track 1

As Uganda advances its energy transition, developing local content in the power subsector is crucial for ensuring sustainable economic growth, job creation, and industrial development. Strengthening local participation across the energy value chain enhances skills development, technology transfer, and investment in homegrown enterprises, while also ensuring that energy infrastructure projects generate long-term benefits for Ugandan businesses and communities.

Co-organised by ARE and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) of Uganda, this high-level panel will bring together key national and international stakeholders, including MEMD, the World Bank, UNDP, and ComAp, to assess the progress, challenges, and future opportunities for local content development in Uganda’s power sector.
