World Bank

The World Bank Group is actively supporting energy access in Africa through the Mission 300 (M300) initiative, which aims to connect 300 million people to electricity in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030. As part of this ambitious effort, the World Bank Group has committed to connecting 250 million people to electricity, while the African Development Bank will support an additional 50 million. To achieve this goal, the World Bank Group is leveraging $30 billion in IDA resources between now and 2030, focusing on investing in generation, transmission, distribution, regional interconnection, and sector reform. The initiative also emphasizes collaboration with governments, businesses, philanthropies, and other development partners to accelerate the pace of electrification while promoting a transition to more diversified and cleaner energy sources.
