About me
With a strong background in energy policy & over two decades of experience, he oversees the implementation of ambitious projects to expand electricity access to rural & underserved areas. These projects include the Rural Electrification Fund (REF), Capital Projects, & the 550-million-dollar Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) – a World Bank ($350m) & African Development Bank ($200m) initiative deploying mini-grids & solar power solutions.
His leadership is instrumental in securing substantial funding for the NEP’s successive project called the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES), which will be deploying solar power solutions, & promoting renewable energy through innovative models like the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCOs).
Abba is currently spearheading the development of a comprehensive National Electrification Strategy & Implementation Plan (NESIP),harmonising national energy access data, improving partnerships, & mobilising financial resources to accelerate Nigeria's journey towards universal electricity access.
My organisation
The Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is the Implementing Agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria tasked with electrification of rural and unserved communities.
Our Mission is to provide access to reliable electric power supply for rural dwellers irrespective of where they live and what they do, in a way that would allow for reasonable return on investment through appropriate tariff that is economically responsive and supportive of the average rural customer.
